Email & notifications
Vantage tells you things without you having to look: the weekly report, an alert when sentiment drops, a warning before you hit a usage limit. This page covers where those go and how to change them.
Checking your email works
-
Send yourself a test
Open Settings and use the Send a test email
button at the top of the page. From a terminal the same thing is
php artisan vantage:mail-test [email protected].Expected: a message titled “Your email setup is working” arrives within a minute or two, listing the mail driver in use and the time it was sent.
- If it does not arrive Check your spam folder first. If it is there, add the sending address to your contacts and set up SPF and DKIM records for your domain — without them most providers treat mail from a new server as suspicious.
What Vantage sends
| When | To whom | |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome | A new account is created | The new user |
| Confirm your email | An address needs verifying | That user |
| Reset your password | A reset is requested | That user |
| Team invitation | Someone is invited to the workspace | The invitee |
| Store connected | A store is added | The workspace |
| Weekly report | A report finishes | The workspace |
| Alert raised | Sentiment drops, negatives spike, or collection fails | The workspace and the alert address |
| Review quota | 80% and 100% of the monthly allowance | The workspace |
| AI budget | 80% and 100% of the monthly token cap | The workspace |
| License status | The license verdict changes | The workspace |
Seeing every email without sending one
This renders all of them to HTML files you can open in a browser, using your own data so you see genuine store names and review quotes rather than placeholders:
php artisan vantage:mail-preview
To send yourself one particular email as a sample:
php artisan vantage:mail-test [email protected] --sample=weekly-report
Expected: the command lists every available sample name if you pass one it does not recognize.
Rebranding
The templates read their branding from configuration, so you do not need to
edit any HTML. In .env:
VANTAGE_BRAND_NAME="Your Company"
VANTAGE_MAIL_TAGLINE="Review Intelligence Briefing"
VANTAGE_MAIL_LOGO_URL=https://yoursite.com/your-mark.png
VANTAGE_SUPPORT_URL=https://yoursite.com/support
MAIL_FROM_ADDRESS="[email protected]"
MAIL_FROM_NAME="Your Company"
Leave VANTAGE_MAIL_LOGO_URL blank and Vantage uses
public/email-mark.png, which you can simply replace with your own
square PNG. The accent color and the callout palettes live in
config/vantage.php under mail.tones.
In-app notifications
The bell in the panel header carries the same events as the emails. Which
channels each kind of notification uses is set in
config/vantage.php:
'notifications' => [
'channels' => [
'alert' => ['database', 'mail', 'push'],
'weekly_report' => ['database', 'mail'],
'store_connected' => ['database', 'mail'],
'quota' => ['database', 'mail'],
'ai_budget' => ['database', 'mail'],
'license' => ['database', 'mail'],
],
],
database is the in-app bell, mail the inbox, and
push a mobile or desktop device. Set a list to [] to
switch that kind of notification off entirely. Push is inert unless you set it
up — see Optional integrations.
Alert delivery
Alerts additionally go to the address in Settings → Alerts →
Notify this address, which is usually a shared or on-call inbox, and to
a webhook if you set one. The webhook receives a JSON POST for each
alert, so you can route them into Slack, Teams or your own system.
